Why community networking

Technology and social networking promised connection and opportunity.

Instead, we got more connections and less trust. We can reach anyone, yet belong nowhere. Productivity soared, but the gains went to the few. Many are anxious, overwhelmed and divided, stuck on the treadmill of a cost-of-living crisis... with AI an accelerator.

Meanwhile, the good work stays hidden. People caring for each other. Organisations solving real problems. Communities taking action. All too often, under-resourced and almost invisible.

It was never meant to be like this.

There is a better way.Community networking.

Efforts are scattered and near invisible.
  • Free, forever
  • Join in five minutes
  • Not social media, no feeds or posts
  • Hide or be seen
  • No need to be an activist

Community networking starts with something simple: making the people who already care visible to each other.

More people care than you think.

They just can’t see each other yet.

Food rescue two suburbs away. A repair cafe in the next postcode. Someone bringing a creek back to life. Someone across the world cracking homelessness in their city.

None of it trends, so none of it reaches you.

  • CareSay what matters to you. The causes you care about, on your profile card on the map.
  • ShareShine a light on who’s already doing it. Put the groups you rate on the map, and bring your friends.
  • DoSmall act suggestions matched to your causes. Doing them often adds up.

Tell the map what you care about and it shows you who shares it, near you and anywhere.

The map

The groups are here. Now let's spread the word and add the people.

Starting in Victoria, we've been mapping organisations and community groups doing good work. Next, with your help, we add the ones we've missed and bring on the people. Every person who joins gives the map a human face, and shows which causes we care about most, postcode by postcode. Explore it now, then join.

Every council area gets its own community page once ten locals join.
As it grows, you'll see what your community cares about most, and how that compares with nearby towns, other states and overseas. Always totals, never individuals.

Join the mapStarting in Victoria, open to everyone. Every pin helps show what's possible.

Joining the map also populates our growing network of local community sites, like Food Waste Victoria and Electrify Victoria on Climateers.com. You or your organisation only appear there if you choose Climate & Environment as a cause.

Your choices set your reach. Support an organisation that embeds a map of its supporters on its own website, and you appear there too, widening who can find you, your organisation or your community. You can also choose to hide or be seen by the people in your ripple.

So what do you get?

For you

  • A way out of the feeling that nothing you do matters. Suggested microactions to suit what you care about.
  • Your own Ripple dashboard to see how your care cascades, without spending a cent.
  • People who care about what you care about, found in minutes instead of years.
  • Quick Chats that could turn into game-changing friendships and work worth doing.
  • Being findable by the people looking for exactly what you offer.
  • New exciting opportunities and learning in a fast-changing world.

For everyone

  • More connections locally and globally between people who care, share and do, and those who enjoy sharing their passions with others.
  • Every listing makes the next person’s search shorter.
  • The good work gets more exposure, funding and helping hands.
  • Towns and communities can finally see what people care about, and how much is already happening in them.
  • Half the money from every sale goes to registered charities and micro-grants.
  • Every connection paves another gap in the path to a better world of people connected to meaning, hope, purpose and the things they love doing.

Everything in the first column is something you want for yourself, and the only key that opens it is other people.

The selfish path and the shared path turn out to be the same path.

There is no single right way to build this. Thousands of approaches are possible and we hope people try all of them. This one is ours. Tell us where it’s wrong and we’ll fix it in public.

How small steps add up

From one person to a connected community.

  1. Be visiblePeople and organisations put themselves on the map and show what they care about.
  2. Find each otherYou discover who nearby shares your concerns, and which organisations are already doing good work.
  3. Take a small stepA small action turns concern into something practical you can do today.
  4. ConnectQuick Chats, recommendations and introductions start real relationships.
  5. Let it spreadRipple codes, posters and invitations carry it to the next town and beyond. You see how far and wide your action spreads.

No single action fixes a big problem. Connected people can do more than scattered ones, and that's what the map is for.

Starting in Victoria

Victoria, let's show what's possible.

Care Share Do started here in Victoria in October 2026, where the team behind it is based. We're asking Victorians to come together first: put yourselves on the map, take a few small actions, bring your local groups along, and show what a connected community can do.

Then we take it to the rest of Australia and the world. Anyone, anywhere can join today, and every region starts the same way, with a few people willing to be found.

In more detail

Care

Say what matters to you, and be found by people who feel the same.

Pick the causes you care about and add the organisations you support or trust. You're pinned on the map at your postcode, never your street, and nothing more is asked of you. Your card is a quiet signal that someone here cares about this too.

Share

Your ripple code shows how far one invitation travels.

Every person and organisation on the map has a ripple code, a personal link to share with friends, colleagues and your community. When someone joins through it they appear in your ripple, and when they invite others, your ripple keeps spreading. A community group can see the same for its own members and supporters.

Do

Small, practical steps, one at a time.

The library has actions from two minutes to two hours. Pick one that fits the time you have and tick it off in My Actions on your dashboard. Every action counts the same. People are never ranked against each other and there's nothing to win.

These are invitations, not obligations. Choose what feels right for you, when it feels right. Nobody is asking you to take risks or be a hero.

This is just the start.

The map is live today, it is free, and it stays free. Climateers and Cagora are open alongside it, and one listing puts you on all three.

Forever free is a commitment rather than an introductory offer, so something has to pay for it. Tile It Forward is how. People pay a postcode forward, shine a light on a community group they rate, and the free part stays free for everyone else.

It opens on 1 December and runs to 22 December. Move inside that window and you are a founding member for life.
