Give a few hours to the place you live
Local groups do a huge amount of good with very few hands. Volunteer with one near you, or help the whole community find each other by looking after your area on the map.
Volunteer with a community organisation
Op shops, food relief, Rotary and Lions clubs, U3A, landcare, repair cafes, sports clubs and climate groups all run on volunteers. Most of them would love an extra pair of hands, even for a couple of hours a month. The map shows who is near you and what they care about.
Find a group near you
Open the map, zoom to where you live and look at the community groups and organisations around you. Choose one whose work you care about.
Say you'd like to help
On the group's card, press Join the team to show you volunteer there or would like to. Many cards also link to the group's own website and volunteer page.
See volunteer roles
Some roles are posted on the map as volunteer jobs, with what's involved and how to apply. Local Community Partners add more as groups tell them what they need.
Run a group that needs volunteers? Get it listed on the map, then let your Local Community Partner know what roles you have.
Become a Local Community Partner
Every place on care share do has its own community page: who is on the map there, local groups, events, jobs and volunteer roles. A Local Community Partner looks after one of those pages, for a council area, a city or a state. It is a volunteer role, it takes a few hours a month, and you choose the place.
There can be more than one Local Community Partner for a place. We'd love you on board to help create a stronger sense of local community.
What you do
- Keep the page current. Check new listings in your area, and make sure the groups and organisations there are on the map with a logo.
- Feature the best. Pick out the local groups and events that people should know about.
- Add events, jobs and volunteer roles. Partners can post them for the groups in their area, so people can find a way to help.
- Get people talking. Invite a few people to something: a local meet up, a site visit, or a 15 minute Quick Chat. In person if you can, online if you can't.
What it takes
Be on the map, care about your area, and give a few hours a month. No website, budget or team needed. One short training session gets you going.
What you get
Your face on your place page as a Local Community Partner, the tools to add events, jobs and roles, and a direct line to the people doing good things where you live.
You won't be alone
A place can have several partners, and the best ones do. Two people who know different parts of a place cover it better than one, and nobody carries it alone when life gets busy.
Places that are open now
Every other council area, city and state already has a page that is waiting for its first partner. Browse all local communities. Open places welcome more partners too.
Apply to be a Local Community Partner
Takes two minutes. We'll be in touch to book a short call and your training session.
Questions
Is it paid?
No. Local Community Partners are volunteers, like most of the people who keep local groups going. Care Share Do is free, forever, and there is no budget to pay for roles in it.
Do I need experience?
No. If you care about your area and know a few of the people and groups in it, that's plenty. The training session covers how to check listings and add events, jobs and roles.
Someone already looks after my place. Can I still apply?
Yes. Places can have several partners, and it works better that way.
I'm not in Australia.
Apply anyway and name your place. Pages outside Australia are coming, and the first partner in a place helps us open it.
Is this the same as the Climateers partner roles?
They're related. Care Share Do covers everyone doing good in a place. Climateers looks after climate solutions such as food waste and electrification, place by place. See Act Now on Climateers.com if that suits you better.
